Duke of Edinburgh's Award

DofE at Montacute School

Rationale

At Montacute our aim is to equip our pupils with the skills and knowledge needed to become as independent as possible to prepare them for their future adult lives.  In addition to our Key stage 4 and 5 curriculums, we have extended our offer further through the delivery of the Duke of Edinburgh's award, empowering our young people; to support them as they learn new skills, overcome obstacles, and build confidence and resilience.

DofE delivery

At Montacute school we offer all pupils in key stage 4 and 5 the opportunity to complete their Duke of Edinburgh's award. Pupils will work to complete four sections of the award at a Bronze, Silver or Gold level of achievement. Pupils will have every opportunity to develop independence and confidence in physical and sporting activities, make a difference to our school and local community and to learn new skills and explore their interests. Pupils will work towards and plan an overnight expedition in the summer term to complete their full award.

See provision map for activities offered and expedition requirements.

Impact

The Duke of Edinburgh's award will support our pupils to develop physical skills, social skills, building confidence and resilience to prepare them for the next step of their journey after leaving Montacute school. The Duke of Edinburgh's award gives our pupils the opportunity to work towards and internationally recognised award to celebrate their physical and non-academic achievements .
