'Under the Sea' Summer Term Topic 2024

Our Summer Term Topic is 'Under the Sea'. During this topic, we will be exploring an underwater landscape; looking in detail at sea creatures, plants and lighting. We will be learning through our senses by recognising those aspects of 'Under the Sea' that we can see, smell, touch and taste. Within our Literacy lessons, we will be exploring our text 'Commotion in the Ocean' by Giles Andreae and David Wojtowycz, through sensory story telling. For our Numeracy sessions, we will be focusing on number sequencing; looking at sea animals that live within large and small groups. In our PSHE, we will be looking at how we can protect our planet and the animals within it. For creative learning, we will be creating 'Shoe Box Dioramas' that represent the scenes within our 'Commotion in the Ocean' text. Within our PD sessions, we will be exploring ball games and learning the principles of throwing and catching to our friends; as well as continuing to strengthen our bodies through weekly Yoga sessions, Swimming, Physiotherapy, Hydrotherapy and Rebound Therapy.
