Careers and Transitions into Adulthood

Our careers programme is carefully designed to support pupils with special educational needs and disabilities, helping them to recognise their strengths, interests and potential. Through lessons, enrichment activities and real-world experiences, pupils explore how the knowledge and skills they are developing today can be applied to future employment, community participation and independent living. This helps them make meaningful connections between their current learning and future opportunities.

We recognise that conventional employment may not be the preferred or appropriate pathway for all of our pupils. However, we are ambitious for every young person and strive to equip them with the skills, confidence and understanding needed to make informed choices about their future and to become active, valued members of their communities.

We continue to develop our careers provision through a planned programme of employer engagement. Linked to the career pathways explored each term, these encounters help pupils gain first-hand insight into different roles and workplaces. By revisiting careers and employment sectors through a rolling programme across all ages and phases, we aim to build upon prior learning, broaden pupils' awareness of future possibilities and support them in making informed choices about adult life.
